How To Dress Up Your Baby For The Halloween Party
Looking for the best baby Halloween costume? Want something to make her look cute? Well, that’s the easy part. Babies always look adorable in any costumes, don’t they?
Your infant can’t really trick or treat yet, but having them in the Halloween party or take them with you to the Halloween parade is still fun and exciting. Unlike selecting costumes for adults or older children, there are different things you need to consider when it comes to Halloween costumes for babies.
Is your baby comfortable in the costume?
The baby will probably be in the costume for several hours and almost her entire body will be covered. It’s important to choose a costume that’s made of high quality fabric. Typically 100% cotton is the best choice as they tend to be softer and more breathable than other materials. Make sure the costume is not too tightly fit and the baby can move freely and easily.
Also pay close attention to where the buttons, zippers, Velcro, or snaps are located. Sometimes these items and other accessories on the costume could create discomfort for the baby.
Is the costume safe for infants?
Are there any small parts or accessories that could be a choking hazard? Any trailing parts that may, despite look pretty, cause strangulation? Make sure nothing on the costume could be pull off and swallowed by the baby. You would think the manufactures that make baby Halloween costumes would have thought about these things, but you may be unpleasantly surprised.
Masks Off
Masks are OK for toddlers but they should not be part of the baby’s costume manufacturer. You want to be able to see baby’s face at all time for safety reasons.
How easy is it to change diapers?
As mentioned, the baby will be in the costume for several hours. Since they need diaper changing frequently, it’s important that the costume comes with crotch snaps so you can change the diaper easily.
Now that we get the important things out of the way, it’s time to decide on the styles. There are always plenty of selections when it comes to baby Halloween costumes. A good place to start is last year’s best-selling costume list. This will give you some general ideas.
The Mickey or Minnie Mouse costumes have been the long time favorites. The Tulip Fairy costume will turn your little one into an angel. How about the Ladybug Bunting costume – always a lady and a cute little bug?
If you have a toddler boy, the superhero costumes like Superman, Batman, Spiderman are great choices for him. Other options include Star Wars Yoda, or Darth Vader. For toddler girls, Dragonfly and Strawberry costumes are new this year. Star Wars Princess Leia and Sugar Plum Fairy also look absolutely fabulous.
