Manufacturers stare at highs of factory locations; can bring 201 jobs
High point, N.C. – The furniture of the world’s Parliament House does not sit on its hands. The high point of the economy and city leaders are actively seeking Amada North America Inc. a factory that can bring 201 jobs to the region.
Next week, the High City Council and Guildford County Committee will hold public hearings to discuss incentives for companies that costume manufacturer equipment for sheet metal manufacturers.
The high point will discuss the $1,171,000 incentive program, while the county is considering $999,000.
“But this does not mean that the company is immediately motivated,” said Loren Hill of High Point Economic Development. “If they choose us, they must do it first.”
Hill said that they have been pursuing the company for several months, and Amada is also considering sites in South Carolina and Tennessee.
The company is considering the construction of new facilities at 2545 and 2565 Penny Road near the main central business park in Eastchester Drive.
“The North High Point is in the middle of the Piedmont underworld work force, so you can throw all employees outside Guilford County,” Hill said.
Hill also mentioned more and more corridors, including new projects like Heron Village, which include bars, shops and restaurants, and added costume manufacturer .
The project can increase the $82 million tax base. It is hoped that Amada will make a decision within a few months after the incentive hearing.
